Asset Mapping Project - March 2019 report

A collaborative effort between the Georgia Partnership for Excellence in Education, Troup County School System, Troup County Center for Strategic Planning and the LaGrange-Troup County Chamber of Commerce, this asset map is a snapshot of the workforce pipeline as it exists today in Troup County, with a fair and clear-eyed analysis of the strengths, resources, and gaps in that pipeline. Everyone, no matter their position or sector, has a role in building a strong birth-to-work pipeline. Identifying that role, however, can be challenging. This tool can help stakeholders determine where they fit, what to prioritize, and who to partner with to achieve results.

About the Strategy

Troup Works is supported through a partnership between:

  • The LaGrange-Troup County Chamber of Commerce
  • The Development Authority of LaGrange
  • The Troup County Development Authority
  • The West Point Development Authority
  • The Troup County Center for Strategic Planning

These organizations have engaged Avalanche Consulting to facilitate the strategic planning process.

The strategic planning process is guided by a Steering Committee comprised of leaders from a diverse range of public sector, private sector, nonprofit, and educational organizations.

The four-month strategic planning process will be completed in mid 2017 and will result in:

    • identification of Troup County’s specific labor shed draw,
    • analysis of workforce and demographic trends in the region,
    • and a Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, and Threats (SWOT) assement of the county.
  • A Workforce Gap Analysis that compares occupational growth in Troup County with the educational programs at localand regional colleges, universities, and high schools. This analysis will identify shortages and over-supplies in training and degree production.
  • Strategic Recommendations for all of Troup County, focused on workforce development and education, talent recruitment, and talent retention.
